Description

A screw conveyor or auger conveyor is a mechanism that uses a rotating helical screw blade, called a ?flighting?, within a tube, to move granular materials. They are used in many bulk handling industries. Screw conveyors in modern industry are often used horizontally or at an incline of up to 90 degrees as an efficient way to move materials, including food waste, wood chips, aggregates, cereal grains, animal feed, boiler ash, meat and bone meal, flour, meal and many others. The first type of screw conveyor was the Archimedian screw, used since ancient times to pump irrigation water. Two variants of the auger are produced by ABC Hansen Africa, the trough auger and the normal auger. Trough augers are usually used when conveying material over longer distances, on a horizontal level, while normal augers are more applicable for shorter distances with inclines up to 90? inclines.
